Pros
If you love taking pictures and you don't have space for an slr, this is the camera for you. I love candid shots, and for that i need the camera on me all the time. I have stocked up on wasabi x type batteries for the cyber-shot.
As compact and easy to carry as the nex camera bodies have been, you still have to mount normal sized lenses to them. It's very handy how compact the camera is when the lens is retracted. The touch screen is especially helpful when recording video.
Me, my wife, and my preschooler are the main users of this camera. Wi-fi support is super easy and fast. Being able to control the camera with my phone makes life alot easier.
Small enough to fit in your pocket or even a purse. Of course it is a bulge, but similar to what other people have said, it is small, yet solid.
Everything they say about this camera is true. This camera is it. Of course, i'm glad that this little baby does everything in its power to satisfy me. At 20, this is an awesome camera.
Cons
The rx100 series is not usable for outdoor activities. The sony software is useless.

It works very well - just charge it up and it takes excellent pictures and video.
First of all, i appreciate the quality; countless features are extremely well thought out.
The reason for this problem is slippery body and bad ergonomics.
I have never owned a pocket camera this dependable and rugged.

If you fear the price, you can easily purchase one for about $200-400 on ebay!

I used it for my month-long trip to europe and it was amazing!
Don't know if this was amazon or the shipper who was in error but i am a least out shipping to replace the unit, if i can even do that.
It was shipped timely, arrived in good shape.

Packaging/appearance
Worse yet, there was not enough packaging inside.
Some personal highlights: - the ui was easy to use although it was packed full of features.
Competitiveness
If you play around with settings and distances, you can get some really nice shots from it that rival better cameras.
He is a professional photographer and he uses this camera more than some of his other cameras.
Sony sells all four iterations of the rx100 side-by-side, and they all have reasons for and against them.
Raw photos are not quite up to the standards to the bigger brothers of the ilc or dslrs.

To start with the sony dscrx100m2 really is like mininex camera slightly smaller than the original nex3 while being quite a bit smaller than the a6000 type camera bodies

There are a few small detail changes in the interface like omitting the ael lock button and moving that function to the center button which sadly keeps that button from being used to select iso
