Af is a little slower but still locks onto the birds well. You get an increase in iso at f9 but iq seems to be quite decent. Used with very large 600mm sony lens.

I am very happy even when i consider that this is quite expensive.
Although this is expensive it produces good sharp photos with the sony 200-600mm lens and sony a7iii

There is not a lot of difference in mm going from 600 to 840 mm
