Pros

It's a little big on my a6400 but not unmanageable. Only other thing is that it is a bunker huge lens, my little sony a5000 looks like an end cap lol.

This is the lens that stays on my camera approximately 90% of the time. I have the latest firmware and my other lenses don't miss that much so i'm not sure what's up.

It's best suited for outdoors or well lit conditions. Good zoom range for daily use. F4 is more than sufficient for anything outside and the zoom is smooth and reasonably fast. Works just fine in cold weather, down to about -20c. Great for roaming rel... Read More

I'm a fairly amateurish photographer. The versatility of this lens is what makes it so great.

Cons

The zoom feature is powered and the focus ring doesn't feel tactile. It's also slow to zoom. At the widest zoom range there is no distortion, but it quickly settles at 10-12% pincushion distortion from 30mm and above.

Sharpness at f/4 is way below average, not better than a 16-50 kit lens that comes with sony nex or a6000. I like to shoot video reasonably close to the subject and this lens hindered that. Made out of anodized aluminum, it scratches extremely easily.... Read More

I purchased mine for around $500 brand new and on-sale.

I was grateful that it wasn't delivered to my doorstep.

Competitiveness

I considered things such as buying a gimbal or even buying a newer sony a series.

In fact, even the camera on the iphone 6s does this but i’d never noticed until doing a side-by-side comparison between the two devices.

I only changed to the sel70300g for wildlife, and the sel35f18 for those dark castle interiors.
