Pros & Cons
Pros
No tunneling anywhere, sharp clear results with minimal ca, and a nice focal length increase. This makes it easier to get great results for subjects that are likely to be disturbed or shadowed by close proximity. It takes awesome shots, especially whe... Read More
The 58mm adapter is a great way to extend the reach of your camera's telephoto zoom. The only downside is that everyone else has a dsl with a $3k+ telephoto and you get no respect. It is perfect for concerts or plays if you pay for cheap seats and hav... Read More
This lens attaches to my dsc-h2, via the standard sony adapter tube, is great! It also works with sel 35f18 and sel 28-70.
It appears to be an even better lens arrangement thanthe heavier, higher priced unit. I also fount it easy to go back and forth between using the tele-converter lens and the regular lens on my camera.
The vcl-dh1758 is a perfect substitue for the much heavier, more expensive v cl-hgd1758. I'm pretty sure it has less chromatic abberations.

With this lens attached to the h5 the optical zoom focal length is boosted to over 700mm.
It screws on to a 58mm adapter which i purchased from lensmate.
Price
True as some of the other reviewers mentioned you have to zoom out a little to get rid of the vignetting but that is a small price to pay.
It is superb, and i thank you for the fastservice and great price.
As this is 58mm and h50 adapter is 74mm, i got a 74-58 mm step-down ring for $4.
It sold for well over $200 andhad a list of $299 on sony's website.
Shipping
Delivery of the product was sooner than anticipated, 2 days.
The product arrived safely and within the period mentioned during the purchase.
Packaging/appearance
This object, which obviously required protection on route, was packed in a rather large box.
However, it had been thrown into the bottom of the box and a cubic foot of packing material tossed on top, not in any way shiel... Read More
Competitiveness
They sold tons of thosecameras, and it also will match the dsc-f707 as well.
I would buy this product again as it makes the sony digital camera even more versatile.
They have tried other brands of lenses of this smae nature but have never been as satisfied with the sony.
I know that it fits many other cameras like the canon s3 and s5.
