Pros

Sony vrd-mc3 is an easy to use backup tool for your mini dv tapes. For the minidv camcorder, i use firewire and this has an added benefit of recording only the recorded video. Product does a great shop recording from my vcr tapes.

On playback, each title shows up separately on the start-up menu, but the entire contents of the dvd will playback at once. The screen on top of the unit provides good feedback on what is actually making it to the disk. The one drawback that i can see... Read More

It can also be used as a dvd recorder on your pc. And for that this device excels. I'm not very computer savvy and don't have a fancy computer with hundreds of gb space.

Cons

I think the sony vrd-mc3 and the included nero 7 price is very reasonable.

Competitiveness

I give it highest ratings for performance and price (especially now that it's the old model sold at a greatly reduced price).

Initially i had problem capturing video more that 1 hour in taiyo yuden dvd's.
