The vpl-vw325es looks much brighter than the 5040. It's dlp so you'll have to replace a bulb every now and then but it is more convenient to setup and run on a daily basis.
The colors are just amazing. Shots of the shire are such an incredibly vibrant green.

The worst thing about this projector is that you may have to fiddle with it extensively to get the results i describe
