The sound quality is very good, and the app comes with an equalizer to adjust your listening preferences. It works really well, connects to my sony tv flawlessly.

The xm-5's are a great headset. It's very hard to find headphones that fit and don't fatigue me. The ear pads still stay on but they are easier to take off than they should be.

Anc is customizable too unlike airpod max. Set up was surprisingly easy, even for a technologically challenged girl like me. The touch commands are super intuitive and the battery life is awesome.

Cons

Overall this is really unacceptable for a premium product. would not recommend. An embarrassment for sony. Poorly made that it doesn't withstand a full year of use.

Do your own research and check out all the complaints on this exact problem; and no one has been compensated. There are countless cases of this happening. Will break. It's out of warranty.

Came apart at the main hinge. Sony refuses to honor their warranty. I hope sony takes the time to review the overall design impediments and resolves them in the next iteration.
