They come with a little plastic tool to remove the existing pads without damaging them. They aren't hard to install thanks to the included tool, it just takes a little fiddling.
Cons
The xm4s no longer cancel high-pitch whooshing noises effectively. High-pitched repeating noises are more annoying with the earpads on.

I'll start with the negative - they definitely reduce the noise-canceling ability of the headphones.
Due to sweat, weather, and repeated handling, the earpads end up looking like worn carpet over time.
Price
Again might just be because the stock earpads are so worn down.
But that might also be because i've been using the stock earpads for almost two years now.

I tried stretching out the band by leaving for a while over some books a bit wider than they’d be in my head, but that didn’t change much.

With most factoryissue earpads the cartilage on my eyes presses against the hard speaker surface and that gets painful after 30 minutes or so
