Pros

The lead hardness indicator is also easier to see and read than the pointer that simply points to a stamped hardness on the 780c's clip-band. It comes with one preloaded 2h lead and you'll need to purchase the lead sharpener separately.

The pencil now fits perfectly of i have zero complaints – but staedler really needs to sell a pointer to go along with this pencil).

Cons

The lead breaks inside the shaft for me consistently. This flaw makes it a dealbreaker and nearly unusuable. Won't work with staedtler 2mm rotary action lead pointer.

This seems to be poor execution on their part and i am very dissatisfied with what is a fairly expensive pencil. Does not feel like german staedtler mars technico mechanical pencil.

It is so much better than the papermate it's replacing.

Therefore, i gave my new staedtler pencil and lead holder, to my son, he just loves them.
