Pros

They are refillable. Have been in sporadic use for 5 years, longest ever for hi-liters. I am very picky about my school supplies, these are amazing!

Staedtler textsurfer highlighters feature vibrant long lasting colors and resist fading on all types of paper. When i use the tip of this highlighter it smears but if i use a flat even * (hope that makes sense), there is little to no smear.

The colors are bright and true without being obstructive. They are bright but not overpowering to the print beneath. Nice colors and brightness.

Cons

Barely any ink in them. They are not inkjet safe and there’s quite a bit of smearing. I wonder if this is an older batch?
