Pros & Cons
Pros
These are the absolute best dry markets/pencils for highlighting. Yellow and peach/flesh colors are very visible in white daylight. Pink is also very visible and preserves the legibility under a warmer light.
Cons
It causes smudging on the page from the black ink. They are triangle so they don't work with any standard pencil sharper.
Highlights
Quality
Quality is ok but they wear down too fast and thus are not a cost effective way to highlite.
They look like regular highlighter but without the possible mess you can get with the liquid.
Packaging/appearance
Staetler used to make a highlighter pencil (the staedtler plastic topstar dry 764) that was refillable.
Disappointed that the packaging was with plastic and each of the highlighting pencil got a plastic lid on.
They are dry (sort of like colored pencils) and the colors stand out on the page.
They highlight nicely, without smearing the print or ink.
Competitiveness
I have had some last for years, which helps offset the high cost compared to individual pens.
Not as great as the discontinued staedtler plastic topstar dry 764, but a more than acceptable alternative.
Wish the original staedtler highlighter woud still be available, but closeto the original product.
