Pros & Cons
Pros
The blade is way thicker than i expected being that it is replaceable so that is a huge plus. The way the blade is secured makes it very safe to jumble around with other items in your pocket.
When paul sellers praises a tool, it gets in demand. Use this in carving walking sticks. One of the best sellers on amazon.
Simple, no nonsense operation. Plastic swing-lock release is at rear of knife body. The cons; one is the blade locking mechanism.
Cons
The stanley 10-049 pocket knife was received well packaged but was unusable out-of-the-box. It's soo poorly made, that i wonder if it's a low end chinese knockoff. Stanley should have saved packaging, should have returned it.
The locking mechanism design is pretty poor and made out of cheap feeling plastic. The tolerances are sloppy, resulting in it being difficult to close. Loosening the screw helps with the binding, but then falls out in my pocket.
It's not worth the nearly 10 bucks they go for. Not even worth the hassle of returning. It's useless now.
Highlights
Quality
I’ve used this type of knife for years, very slim, with a replaceable blade!
Feels great in the hand and feels of quality.
Metal flashing made it impossible to operate properly and unsafe.
The blade is more stout than your usual utility blade, and can be resharpened repeatedly.
Price
The only real downside is their new popularity has increased the cost.
I was a tad skeptical this would be all that it was hyped up to be considering it is only $10.
That and a very high priced ($15 a 3 pack $5 a blade is totally ridiculous in my opinion more like the price of a 100 pack of u... Read More
But for the price it's still a good solid knife.
Shipping
They were very slow sending it and so they sent me 2!
Packaging/appearance
I have used this for everything from opening packages to de-burring copper pipe to carving wood.
I'll also note that i got mine from a seller on amazon called "half price" and it arrived in a factory blister pack that had be... Read More

Competitiveness
The stanley blade had been marking lines in padauk, cherry and mahogany, and it still better than the tamiya and the army.
The 2nd con is the cost of replacement blades, high compared to standard utility knife blades.
