Pros & Cons
Pros
The rubber jaw protectors are worn out and i need replacements. Its ball joint allows for many holding angles, which can make jobs like tool sharpening and assemblies much easier.
This vice is a great extra hand for power wood carving. Can be used with a dremel rotary tool.
Cons
Since the hole for the screw thread is not planar with the two guide post holes, atempting to close the vice jaws quickly creates internal pressure. This problem wasn't noticed in the factory because the vice is shipped with the jaws wide open.
All joints, especially the screw jaw tightener, are way to stiff, even after disassembly and lubrication. Reducing the gap between the jaws quickly becomes very difficult. The jaws can not be closed to closer than 1 inch.
Highlights
Quality
Nice solid metal build, good mount, easy to adjust.
Well built, does a good job for small to medium projects.
This unit cannot be recommended as a sole vise in a shop needing hammering, and massive clamping action.
This vice clamps to the side of my bench firmly and doesn't slip at all.
Price
The only improvement might be that it was twice as large and had acme threads, but then, it would cost seven times as much.
Good for the money , small works
Shipping
