Pros & Cons
Pros
Coarser teeth let this saw cut quickly and efficiently. Cuts cleanly and accurately. Been using the saw to cut down and trim overhanging tree branches in our yard.
Comfortable grip, very sturdy blade. Sharp as the dickens. Very aggressive teeth, but there are enough of them to leave a smooth finish.
Cons
This one is not that sturdy. Stanley's only value is to harvest steel from them to make scrapers and fluting cutters. Also your cuts look like *.
The damage is not always visible to the * eye, but microscopic fractures can only get worse. They never spontaneously heal on their own. It drifts off the line no matter what you do.
All induction hardened teeth are brittle because they are so hard. Putting the blade in compression forces minute fractures in the steel near the tooth-line.
Highlights
Quality
Coarser teeth let this saw cut quickly and efficiently.
It was very easy to use, made very exact cuts, and felt great in my hands.
I have purchased a second one, only because after multiple years, the saw and the handle became separated from being riveted.
It has three sharp cutting surfaces with 9 teeth per inch (tpi) -- excellent!
Price
Its a hand saw at a good price and it cuts.
Competitiveness
The enpoint saw which i also bought on amazon cuts those trees faster than fatmax and enpoint is cheaper.
