Pros & Cons
Pros
If you have sharpening tools and time, it's great bench plane. Set one up as a semi-scrub plane for doing yeoman's work on the bench. Set the other as a fine smoothing plane for touching up the surface.
Bailey pattern #5 with two irons - one for scrubbing and one for flattening. A wet sharpening stone is imperative for this to work so order one with it. I am sure with a finer sharpener a super fine edge is achievable. Good for woodworker who deals wi... Read More
For this price it worths the money. Takes a little bit of tuning just like any other. Part of that is that i wanted to take on the challenge of flattening and tuning an inexpensive hand plane.
Cons
It has no chip breaker (also called a cap iron) to stiffen the blade and help keep the shavings from jamming the *, assuming you could ever get a shaving from this disgrace. The knife is simply too thin and is prone to slight bending when used on hard... Read More
After a few weeks of use, the handles are already loose (although they can be tightened). The adjustment screws are also way too small of a radius. The studs for adjusting arent the same length and the threads aren't parallel precession.
Highlights
Quality

I wanted an inexpensive plane to try out and learn with and i am very happy with it so far.
But the near glassy edge that i managed to get on the side of the piece of pine i was working with also tells me that i'm going... Read More

For the price is more than what i expected.

So not too bad overall given the price.
Packaging/appearance
The one i got was great right out of the crappy plastic packaging.
Was in a pinch and needed to shave down some boards.
It will not work right out of the box.
I pulled it out of the package and first disassembled it to clean off all the grease.
Competitiveness
Works better than the lowes brand one i bought

The fastener was painted with a thick red color which bent the blade and allowed wood chips to enter
