The blade, frog, chip breaker and cap are solid and well done. Lapping the sole and polishing the blade will only improve the performance.

Among others, it has adjustable mouth. The mouth adjustment is easy and intuitive.

The cherry tote is held in place by a clever brass cross bolt also bearing #4. Use a seal tape one usually use it to seal the pipes on plumbing job. The only thing i don't like is the aluminum cap iron.

Cons

The bevel was not groundstraight from the factory, the bevel has a concave in the center. Added camber to blade and just seems to skip and chatter more than a plane of this heft ever should.

The blade is made of butter and does not hold and edge. The chip breaker isn’t sharp or fitted to the blade in any way. You have to loosen the cap iron to adjust it. I am a machinist and i will fix it myself.

The thing just feels poorly crafted. This is the type of irresponsible product that makes inexperienced people think that they are inadequate at handwork.

The adjustment mechanism is fiddly and there is so much slop in the mechanism i never truly got it adjusted correctly. When adjusting depth it takes 3 full knob revolutions to take the slack out, as a comparison on lv low angle smoother it's less than... Read More

Easy setup, norris style adjustment took about 45 seconds to figure out and secures the blade nicely.

Pluses: unique chip breaker and cap design function well, frog is fixed and the mouth adjusts (also works well).

I polished the back of the blade, leveled the cap iron and honed the blade to a razor's edge.

Life is short and you don't want to waste your time doing inefficient things like trying to get a cheap plane to work.

Price

Overall a great buy for the price.

From what i can tell, this plane is priced exactly correctly.

The price point for what you get i think is decent for your average diy who doesn’t do this on a daily basis.

Overall for the price i am happy with this purchase.

I have a veritas plane as well and though it's not quite on the same level strait out of the box, given the price it's a much better value.

The difference between this plane and a lv-veritas or ln plane is the fettling it needs.
