Pros & Cons
Pros
My grandson loves it. Crear toy for my nephew. This keeps my 5 year old occupied!
The lightsaber is very durable. It telescopes open and closed with the flick of a wrist and makes the characteristic swishing and humming sounds of a real light saber.
The sounds coordinate with the player's movements--it's pretty neat. The sound effects are really fun for him too, although a little annoying to me, but not terribly. The sounds are awesome.
Cons
My nephew is disappointed. It's heavy-duty plastic but there's no special features and $30 is a high price tag for a toy. Same exact you.

It is always extended like 6 i might try and take off the plastic part for my costume as i dont want to clip a half extended light saber to my belt

Also if you did that it would also fully extend on its own so that wont work
