Quality
I'm impressed with the saber it self and how it functions but heres my likes and dislikes about it.
However, it was easy to assemble with the provided tools and given instructions.
I've read people talking about quality control issues; but i've found nothing wrong with mine.
Even the new release of dooku's saber came with the original force fx horizontal wall mount instead of the curved acrylic.
Packaging/appearance
I only noticed this when i looked inside the hilt.
The packaging is not safe at all.
The crystal even stays lit after taking it out of the hilt.
Competitiveness
I'm not a huge fan of the price point but that's not enough to dock it a star.

When i first assembled it i had to look at the instructions before i realized that you have to insert the blade then twist to lock it in place for it to work correctly

Blade does not stay on when you try to move it around even a little bit very loose not impressed being an fx elite saber and pretty expensive

I was a bit hesitant to pick this one up having read numerous bad reviews

The key here is that the new black series are like the legacy sabers available at galaxys edge in that have to push the blade down and turn it to lock it in place
