The square is solid and has no wobble after tightening the lock screw down. It feels substantial when i use it, not flimsy. Very sturdy and well made.
This is a lifetime tool that i will always be proud of when i use it. No one regrets buying good tools.

The starrett lock * and ruler slide way easier than cheaper versions. I also like that when you remove the various components the friction knob stays attached. A slight twist of the knob with my thumb and the rule is locked in place.
Cons
The 11h-12-4r has stains or scratches on the blade right out of the box. Is it me, or does it make sense to expect a tool this expensive to be in better shape?
