Pros & Cons
Pros
Size is compact for small space use. Just the right size for tool pouch or pocket. It's much nicer than the cheap 6-inch combo square in my shop apron.
It is lighter than my i-gaging adjustable square. I find myself grabbing this more then my 12 inch or 4 inch slide square. Only complaint is the pin punch in the bottom sometimes slides out unintentionally.
It's so easy to use that it saves a tiny bit of money every time you use it. A pleasure to use, especially after trying cheap hardware store brands.
Cons
Starrett quality control is terrible, or simply non-existent. Hard to read blade, terrible level vial, and the out of the box grinding.
Highlights
Quality
I just started using it and my project is improved because of the high quality measuring.
He boasts quality, accuracy, weight, feel in the hand and on the material and not least extremely durable.
Should of bought years soonerinstead of rotating cheapies.
He needed this starrett because the one he was using in the shop he works out of was constantly off gage.
Price
Yes it’s expensive but it’s so easy to use that it saves a tiny bit of money every time you use it.
I have high expectations because of the high price.
It is pricy, but very much worth it.
There is nothing bad you can say about anything they make other than it being really expensive but you get what you paid for
Competitiveness
Similar combination squares cost ten or fifteen dollars and are a waste of money.
There are cheaper options out there, but this is a "rolex" of combo squares.
I have put a few dollars into other measuring tools.
