An absolute must for any serious modeler. Tell-tale signs of a precisely-manufactured product. Great quality like you expect from a machinist's manufacturer.
Use this to hold tungstens while sharpening and to hold/feed small 3 left over pieces of tig rod while welding. Works best with 3mm diameter shanks. No more scraped knuckles or flying electrodes.
This is the droid you're looking for. The collet expands and contracts smoothly. I have a cheaper model that has this feature and i find it indispensable.

Does not hold bits securely. Don't waste your money. Returned for replacement.

This is a nice pin vice however it was listed as a bundle deal with a micro drill set 6180 that i needed and this pin vise will not hold the micro drills of that size so i have to order another pin vise of the correct size range the bottom line is i was not able to use the drills upon their arrival so somewhat frustrating but my fault for not reading product descriptions

Ive had the opportunity to purchase many pin vises over the years and aside from some having pretty colors they have as a whole been woefully disappointing
