Pros & Cons
Pros
The starret calipers are definitely original starrett calipers. Checked with gage blocks and caliper are spot on. I have a nice mitoya digital that always seems to have a dead battery when i need it most.
Starrett tools remain one of the top tier precision tools you can buy. They quality components that maintain their accuracy when handled responsibly. This is nice and should have good resistance to scratches.
This is as described. Not bad. Works like a charm. Highly recommend. Starrett is the best.
Cons
The starrett 6inch dial caliper is junk. Loses zero often and is comparable in quality to neiko and other prc made calipers, but costs 4 times more. I work as a machinest and one of my coworkers bought a chinese starret 12’ dial calipers and they are ... Read More
These cost a decent amount, and i excepted more, but instead they honestly feel like dollar store. Lots of plastics on the face, plus a nifty design flaw. Definately not worth the price tag.
Highlights
Quality
Initially i was skeptical of its quality and accuracy but after 3 months of using it im pleasantly surprised.
I like the sturdiness of the metal frame and the way i can feel the gears turn inside as i slide the caliper.
If it did it was apparent that the tool had been missused/mishandled in some way; and we tested hundreds every year.
Thin film cover over dial only covers about a quarter size in the center, not the divisions.
Price
Exactly what i needed and a reasonable price.
For the price, i am pleased with it.
Would recommend for $150 ish, not $200 range.
Packaging/appearance
Came with standard red starrett hard plastic case lined with unattached thin foam sheets inside.
Though i recieved a rolex by its box
Box it came in was previously used.

The starret calipers are pricey compared to bargain brands but worth so much more.
I also compared a test on a cheap stainless steel caliper, which had hrc 55 reading.
