Pros
Device lets you swap between two pcs with a click of a button. We use it to swap a back-up media server into operation. Share monitor (dual-link 2560x1600), keyboard, mouse and audio between two cpus.
Kvm works perfectly. Works as advertised. Both work equally well.
Technical support has been very good; helpful and receptive people answer the phone. No video problems.
It is not the prettiest thing in the world, but it blends into the background and not intrusive. Very solidly built.
Cons
The switch feels well made but the firmware in it is very buggy. Buyer beware.

The build quality is superior - i have other kvm's and most are plastic.
If you don't have a spare lying around, you should order one with the unit.
First, it's obvious that this box has undergone a few versions with the same item name / number on amazon.
Something about the analog to digital conversion with the vga source, it was unhappy with it.
Price
Fancier keyboards and mice may lose their specific functionality, and the price is a bit much for what it is.
Competitiveness
From the manual: supports resolutions beyond 1080p: 2560x1600 @60hz, up to 3840 x 2400 at lower refresh rates.
All in all, i'm generally happy with startech stuff.
The startech brand is much sturdier and high quality.

If you remember the old game unit switches that allowed you to use multiple devices on one television set this is like that only for two computers sharing one monitor keyboard mouse and other peripherals

I used several different kvm switches throughout the years but i eventually gave up on using them as there were always issues such as dropping mousekeyboard actions or randomly having a screen going black

I always had issues despite trying different manuacture and the the issues typically seemed to happen at the very worst time i

The usb cables that connect the kvm switch mouse and keyboard to the computer mouse and keyboard are not the most generic usb cables
