Pros

The usb to rs232 adapters are 9 pin. Rs232 does everything - whilst usually not working - at all. Worked for connecting an ab micrologix plc to my laptop. Haven't checked hardware handshaking yet.

Cons

Although it says it is a cross-wired cable it is not.
