Pros

The brackets are placed into bubble wrap sleeves so, even if the outer packaging is damaged, the steel components should be fine. It's a solid metal frame when it's together. Feels extremely sturdy.

The quality is much better than what i expected. They're expensive but especially for shelving/powering, i go for quality. Very reasonably priced.

The casters roll easily on hard surfaces but carpeted areas struggle a bit. Casters/wheels are solid and add mobility to the rack unit. Welds are clean and solid, paint job is clean with no blemishes.

It works well with a dell r710 server (see photo) the 25u rack is easy to assemble.

As is with any rectangular frame though, lateral support is necessary to keep the overall frame perfectly square. That issue resolves itself with the installation of one or more 4-post devices, or a startech. The instructions are unclear but give you ... Read More

Cons

The packaging is woefully inadequate. The steel frame members are heavy, and they are packaged only in a single, thin layer of cardboard. There is no excuse for how these are shipped and missing pieces.

Startech has a good rack, for a reasonable price, but that doesn't matter to me one bit if they can't package their product correctly. My rating is based on poor instruction.

Missing the bottom cross member rail and one of the adjustable side rails. The only reference you have is just the one page diagram. Had to run to the hardware store and get $50 in hardware just to put the * thing together.

Everything was shipped with no damage to components and no hardware was missing.

From delivery to assembled took a bit over an hour.

Have a hammer ready if your shipper was not careful with the product.

Packaging/appearance

Amazing quality, top-notch packaging - arrived in pristine condition.

Server rack came packaged very securely and arrived with no noticeable damage to the individual pieces.

Additionally, each rail piece was protected by bubble wrap and arrived unmarred.

My packaging was great so they must have corrected that issue.

Competitiveness

It comes with a lot of nice extras that show startech has put more effort into its units than most of the knock-offs.

If you can assemble ikea furniture, then this is a breeze.

Did look at other brands, but digging deeper led to many findings about inferior quality or lack of durability.

The startech rack seemed like a better options than many others i viewed.
