I dont know about other models but the newest xps in dells lineup requires an sata cable with a specific configuration in order to add a hard drive to the computer

Get the wrong one and youll find yourself contorting the cable and twisting the plug around so you can plug it in and close the case and even then its not a sure thing

Unlike dells oem parts the motherboard end is straight instead of rightangle but thats more cosmetic than anything else in fact i prefer the straight plug there

If you own a dell desktop there is a good chance you will need a left angle cable
