Pros
They do the job fuss free. Practical and clever. And the lights aren't too bright. A brilliant little card reader.
Works great as a non hot swap cf drive as my zip drive was becoming unreliable.
This reads sd-hc cards fine.
Cons
After only a couple of insertions, again having the same problem with the replacement. That part of the unit seems to have moved slightly, denying access.

I think i read in another review that someone else also had a problem with the cf card slot.
Packaging/appearance
Original packaging and if it had not said as much i would have took it as been completely new.
Competitiveness
No problems with fitting or anything else and it works fine with my win 7 64bit.
I bought this to replace a usb2 version which had ceased working.
Bought for my 2000xl, use it with a 1gb sandisk cf card (not tried others yet) and os 1.

Startech say it supports any operating system and indeed it works as its supposed to on a pc dual booting both windows 10 pro 32bit and ubuntu 16

By contrast this startech product is entirely usb3 which means that the full speed of some faster flash cards can be fully taken advantage of

However i did try a couple of old cf cards kingston 1gb sandisk 2gb containing photos to see if they worked and discovered that one of the cf slot pins was bent

Even after i straightened it it was quite a struggle to insert the cards fully

Easy to install so far reliable data transfer rate not particularly fast as only usb 2 but otherwise no complaints
