Price
It may be costly but you are getting *exactly* what you pay for with this adapter.
Packaging/appearance
The box comes with a low profile bracket if you plan on putting this into a smaller case or need the space savings in your circumstances.
Competitiveness
So, i think it represents a pretty good value, and i've had good luck with startech products in the past.
I don't think the card is quite as robust as my sonnet allegro pro, but it's also half the price of that card.
Luckily, i came across this startech card (a really good brand) and jumped on the chance to finally upgrade to the latest usb platform.

I did have to get drivers from the startech website since that old machine is running whs 2011 and so didnt get drivers from windows update even

I suspect on a newer machine this would be a nonissue since the asmedia asm142 chipset is quite common

There is a pcie switch onboard so the two asm142s are behind that

Ive used startech gear for decades and its always been topnotch this card likewise doesnt disappoint but on the off chance something goes awry later i will come back and update this review

Most computers in my opinion dont have enough usb c ports

Way around it is i used a few extender cables and have them sitting on top of the desk which actually gave me even more access so in all it came out even better
