New modem/router with both gigabit ports and 2. Gbps port. Older technology is the way to go, as the connection is always there. There are still a few out there with ethernet connectivity.

It has a rubberized cover over that delicate plastic clip on the end of the rg-45 connector. The connection end look flimsy but they are deceptively strong and easier to put in and stay in.

Startech is a brand that i trust 100% with their cabling. With this type of product, ymmv is very true.
