Controller randomly crashes if/when-ever large amounts of data are written to the array. Do not buy.

Works like a charm and gives us peace of mind that beside regular backups the data is being protected with a redundant drive.
After 8 months and my nas is running smoothly 24/24 with no problem so far.
Forget mdadm and mb driver software raid junk.
Plugged it, plugged 4 new drives and booted.
Price
This startech one is expensive but it works great!
Ya you may have to pay a little more, but the it never fails.

2 day delivery turned into almost 10 days!
Packaging/appearance
The box could have been sitting on a warehouse shelf for years.
Competitiveness
I already had a "rivo" adapter at half the price but this "startech" delivers 30% better throughput so it's worth the extra cost.
