Pros & Cons
Pros
Anti-static mat provides good static protection & desktop coverage for building computers. There are 2 main styles, one plugs into an outlet but only has a metal ground plug while the 2 prongs are plastic.
Cons
The grounding is bull. Using a multimeter shows that a current can not travel from one end of the clip-on wire to the other. Only one snap on the pad which makes it inconvenient to add a wrist grounding strap.

You will need to purchase a grounding kit separately

The other and the one i use has an end that acts as a washer for the outlet cover
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
You can only use the later if that outlet is properly grounded i would advise using a multimeter to test for ground via the screw to make sure its grounded

The grounding kit will also have a plastic square bit snap that to this mat
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
Then pull off the normal alligator clip on a grounding wrist strap and plug that banana clip into the square bit plugged into the mat

Once all of those steps are completed you have properly grounded yourself and the mat
