I wish it also had a standalone erase function with the various methods such as simple wipe, multipass, dod, etc.

Just what i was looking for, the price is high for a reason.

What's worse is that for amazon's listing, in the from the manufacturer section, the details refer to the usb3.

Device is well built (as most startech products are).

Make sure you read the manual properly before you use this as this unit has one quirk if you add or unmount one drive and there is another drive in the dock that second drive will unmount
