Although i have an imac that easily accomplishes this with imovie it only exported it in mov format which given that apple has dropped quicktime support for windows meant this option was not crossplatform

After trying various options and methods many hours of frustration and about ready to toss out the hv20 i finally figured out a method to extract video from the hv20 on a pc now with this product

I actually had some older dv video which i was able to extract into cross platform avi files using the photo gallery program that is part of windows live

Although this photo gallery can also extract hdv video unfortunately it does not produce hd files but rather dvd resolution files
