Overall 4. It's slammer than i expected. I think that making the usb 3 micro b connector a right-angle connector would be the only improvements. Comes with 2 usb cables, one with a type-a to micro usb 3.

This thing is great if you need to carry around a blazingly fast usb drive. Transfer speeds are great and the construction of the enclosure is superb. Very fast and portable.

The encloser is smaller than most but still appears to be well made. The enclosure is a well made and thick aluminium which feels solid but not heavy in the hand. Unit is solidly built and more importantly very small.

Cons

Manufacturing quality control is marginal, at best. The manufacture is horrible.

When plugged in, the os (win7) shows the device is ready to use, but the drive doesn't show up. Formatting is not an option. It's grayed out. Was it done as a shortcut due to nvme drives overheating so it's considered better heat dissipation?

It comes with the usb cable to use as well.

2 drives and was unable to mount any of them with the enclosure.

2 drive doesn't work with the drive i ordered: adata su800 256gb m.

Shipping

It was fast and not hot for me.

Packaging/appearance

Used the 128gb drive that was on vine to setup.

This was a mistake as the solder to hold the usb-3 connector to the board in the enclosure failed within 3 months.

Competitiveness

I have purchased other startech products in the past and have never been disappointed so i purchased this enclosure.

I recently needed to upgrade a machine which had a 128gb m.

Ordered wrong item, i need a nvme ssd enclosure, but i kept unit for future use.

Beware of other off-brand sata to usb enclosures.
