Drive Type Support

Customers have positive feedback about the StarTech M.2 to U.3 Adapter's ability to allow for the use of NVMe PCIe drives in systems with limited PCIe lane usage, resulting in faster speeds. However, some customers encountered issues with older systems not recognizing the adapter as a bootable drive and had to ensure proper clearance for airflow.

Adapter Compatibility

Customers have had mixed experiences with the adapter's compatibility. While some were able to successfully use it for their M.2 NVMe devices, others encountered issues such as incompatibility with SATA cables and unclear product descriptions. Some users appreciated its ability to connect PCIe M.2 drives to various motherboards, while others expressed frustration over the lack of a heat sink and the need for additional adapters.

Transfer Speed

Customers have mixed opinions regarding the transfer speed of the StarTech M.2 to U.3 Adapter. While some report impressive speeds and noticeable improvements, others mention that the product's labeling is misleading and the actual transfer speed falls short of expectations.

Quality

Provides fast speeds and no issues in installation or recognition.

These adapters are great, replacing the old mechanical drives.

After initial install, during the setup and "getting ready" phase my system would freeze, and i'm forced to hard reboot.

2 pass through with no glitches on my dell precision 5820t.

Price

In fact, i can get one that holds up to 4 drives for $35.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a cable and the adapter cable is $35 to hook up my drive.

It is cheaper to buy one of the cards specifically made to install my m.

The parts are a little spendy, but i hated to waste a great m.

Competitiveness

2 nvm ssd, which are pretty unusual compared to the much more common m.
