Quality
This product - 4k60 hdmi - worked great with mac mini 2012.
Refresh rates are correct, image quality is better, and sleeping equipment actually sleeps.
Price
Easy to use, and a good price.
Startech is a good brand in my opinion.
The hdmi ports on it don’t support the higher refresh rate.
Packaging/appearance
Only started working after using switch res x too, but this seems to be the only way to get 4k 60 hz from the rmbp.
Competitiveness
I've been happy with my other startech products as well.
I've bought several startech adapter products over the years, and they have never let me down.
I had a moment of weakness and bought a few similar devices in a local big-box general merchandise store.
It was not able to do 60 hz, but that is probably due to edid signalling coming from the tv, so not really a flaw with the adapter.
