Paid a little extra for the brand and glad i did this product works great i need another one.
For a great price this little beast sends the best hdmi quality picture from my new microsoft notebook pro to my plasma tv.

Price
Easy to use, and a good price.
Startech is a good brand in my opinion.
The hdmi ports on it don’t support the higher refresh rate.
Packaging/appearance
Only started working after using switch res x too, but this seems to be the only way to get 4k 60 hz from the rmbp.
Competitiveness
I've been happy with my other startech products as well.
I've bought several startech adapter products over the years, and they have never let me down.
It was not able to do 60 hz, but that is probably due to edid signalling coming from the tv, so not really a flaw with the adapter.

I do have a monitor that can do 60 hz 4k over hdmi but i have not tested this adapter with it yet
