Pros
Easy to use and no hassle setup. Seems to get along better with old maxtor drives than other cables. Tested with ide and sata drives on mac osx.
Quality of the product seems to be good and not cheaply made. Works as advertised. This thing is a lifesaver!
To plug in the wall wart, connect it to the power adapter. Connect the adapter's usb plug to your computer. Then and only then, plug the usb cable into the computer.

Cons
The adapter appears to misread and miswrite the attached drive's partition scheme. When trying to boot a drive formatted as guid elsewhere it reads as mbr.

Ide is not spec'd to hot connect, and it's possible that the adapter's sata port also does not support hot connect.
