I suspect many of the bad reviews are likely related to the older firmware that was initially released.
Yes, it's more expensive than so-many other "sounding/looking" adapters, but in reality it isn't comparable to those.
Note that the macos display settings (in system settings) won't normally show the 2560x1600 resolution option.

I hooked it to my hp lp3065c monitor with a high quality dvid cable to a mac mini m2 via usb c thunderbolt and it fired right up and when i checked the video resolution it was set to the default 2560 x 1600

I plugged the adapter into a port on the front of my mac studio it needs to be plugged into a thunderbolt port on the back of the mac studio

Youll have to click the little slide switch for 34show all resolutions34 and then select the highest one

I mention that because an x86 mbp 1334 2019 four thunderbolt 3 ports mbp 152 using this adapter worked with one monitor and failed with the other
