Pros
Docking stations make swapping laptops convenient while making the most out of all my peripherals. Frees up the laptop itself from being tied to multiple wires. Docking station connects through one wire into either laptop through the usb seaport.
The build is sturdy and a little hefty, in a good way. It's also nice that the unit is lightweight and compact. I wouldn't hesitate to get it again.
This dl-6950 chip drives all the video outputs. It has 2 hdmi and 2 * display ports. This item was suggested through the hp help portal to convert my pavilion laptop into a multiscreen workstation.
It's sturdy, i have to hold it firmly when plugging or unplugging anything. Comes with surprisingly good printed documentation, which seems pretty rare these days. I love doing tech reviews, especially on docking stations.
I like startech and am loyal to the brand, as their products are usually quite exceptional. Thank you startech for pushing it to the limit.

Price
At this price point, this is exactly what you want.
5 rating because of the close to $200 price point.
Not a huge deal, but again, missed opportunity (my dock at work does this).
Not cheap by any stretch, but when you start using it, you'll see that you spent your money wisely.

There is no power delivery (pd) with this which was kind of a bummer.
Packaging/appearance
In fact, the packaging and included peripherals have proven to be comprehensive.
Competitiveness
At the current price point (~$175 time of writing) it is competitive with similar designs and feature sets.
I have used the usb-c exclusively, but have a usb-a powered dock (different brand) at the office and imagine it will run just as well.
Quite frankly, many of their products solve problems most of the other big brands fail to even attempt.
I've seen other docks selling for a lot more than this and only have usb-a 2.

The power adapter is solely to power the dock and there are no other inboundpower ports on it
