Packaging/appearance
I opened the package with the adapter, downloaded the drivers per the info on the startech.
Competitiveness
This is with a dell e6420, using the dell docking station w/2 dvi display ports (for monitors 1 & 2).
I bought this unit because my startech usb to vga video card would not conform to windows 7.
I first purchased a startech external video card a couple of years ago to add a third monitor to my desktop computer.
Also, though other startech adapters use displaylink software, that didn't do the trick here.

One big thing though dont bother with the drivers cd that comes with the display adapter

From there you can resequence the order of displays 123 to your liking

Some flickering in early use which seems to have corrected itself

My only complaint really is that at home i use a kvm and when switching between machines the systems essentially reset the monitors and everything moves to the main monitor
