Starting 1979-1996 is an amazing book. One of the most valuable books i have ever purchased. It's the kind of book one hopes to read from a prolific artist and craftsman.
Each cel of these movies takes a few different people. Thousands or even millions of hand drawn, hand painted pictures go into every movie. Great to get a glimpse into the workings of a genius mind.

I cant believe we had to wait more than fifteen years for this book to be translated and published in the united states it was first published in japan in 1996

The second part called on the periphery of the work was similar to the previous section in that it contained chapters about animation techniques

It gives access in english to essays and interviews in their entirety which were previously only referenced as excerpts or paraphrases in other texts written about miyazaki and his works or in the original japanese sources
