Pros & Cons
Pros
This arrived unannounced and thank god the fantastic deliveryman carried it up two flights of stairs for me. It comes fully assembled. We aren't tycoons, but we're keeping this chair as it is fantastic!
Only adjustments are the seat height and the seat depth. Everything else reclines or adjusts as you move. Lumbar support adjusts automatically when i recline or move!
Amazon is doing you a solid - now do your customers one @ steelcase. Found one locally and tested it. Would buy again.
The steelcase gesture is everything i'd hoped for to replace my decade-old herman-miller taskpointe chair. Something thousands of people & how they sit were studied to design this chair. This is a heavy chair (sign of durability) with a firm seat ... Read More
Steelcase gesture is the closest thing you can get to the best armrests. The pads of the armrest are hard rubber, which lets your elbows rest comfortably. The articulating arms are great, and the padding is not super soft, but not firm either.
Cons
The seat adjust back and forward but it does not adjust the angle of the cushion so when you lean back, the * slides off the chair. It's quite uncomfortable for sitting for long periods with proper posture while typing.
I'm not sure what it is about this chair that justifies the price. This gimmick is an old one used on many low-end chairs. Kind of a bummer for a $1000 chair tbh.
There is zero lumbar or upper back support.
The chair squeaks and clangs when i recline backwards, rotate the chair slightly or adjust my sitting position. The gas cylinder has developed a greasy residue, the arm rest are showing signs of tilting inwards - i usually rest my elbows on them. It's... Read More

Price
I wfh and while expensive, the cost made sense to me since i am using it 8rs/day in my homeoffice.
Some colors were over a $150 difference which is part of why i went with the orange + it looks pretty awesome, especially in person!
Inappropriate at the price point i paid.
I've never had a chair more expensive than $200.
Shipping
Then i'll have a nice amazon delivery driver carry a new gesture chair up a few days after.
However, i'm giving the steelcase amia a try - it'll be delivered in two days.
Packaging/appearance
As a result, it arrived in perfect condition.
Chair was delivered well packaged and protected.
The packaging wasn't all that great either, not what i expected for a fully assembled product at least.
Rolled it into a ups store and paid them $50 so they would deal with the packaging and getting it back to amazon because that m... Read More
