The longer she stays, the more kate realizes that getting out is impossible. Women like kate can help us move forward and get to where we rightfully belong. Her writing and storytelling are lovely!
The book reads like a novel and is filled with nostalgic reminders. It’s nostalgic and honest, drenched in a foreboding feeling that only grows with every page. Henry holt & company and netgalley provided an advance copy.
The typical working conditions of the dreary ‘garment’ business are right up there with coal mining as examples of capitalism gone bad.
Kate flannery is fresh out of bryn mawr and a short stint at urban outfitters when she moves to los angeles. Strip tees is a memoir about a specific period of time (early 00's) in her life and her rise through the ranks of american apparel.
Flannery is a funny and blade-sharp writer with a knack for showing us real people in granular detail and without judgment. Flannery never turns a blind eye to the creepier aspects of the american apparel experience.
