It even has a little slot on the top, where you can make a mark for the screw/nail. Also there is a live wire behind the same drywall it gives no beep. This works great.
Cons
The display on the product screen is not what is advertised in the pictures on amazon. There is only a single plug on the opposite side of the wall from where i was scanning.

Our walls are very thin and would not hold anything heavy unless you drilled the screws into the studs
You just turn it on and move it along the wall and it shows you how close you are to the nearest stud and when you are right on top of it

But i put in the supplied 9v battery went through the settings and set it to wood stud at 12

Once you find the stud you have to move real slow to find the center of stud
