But there is a major flaw in the mechanism that attaches the solar cover to the hand crank reel

Once the adhesive gets wet it no longer sticks to the reel

So when you try winding the solar cover onto the reel it will just keep spinning and the solar cover will not consistently wrap over the reel

You can even try tying a square knot on the nylon straps around the reel
