You want to pound these in as close to horizontal as possible

These stake arent very sharp so you may want to cut a starter hole in the edging preferably before its in the ground so youre not pounding away at the stakes all day like i did

Im sure there are a lot of uses for these but for installing landscaping edging they are far superior to the cheap plastic stakes most edging comes with

You may be able to find a lower price but amazon had these while the local stores had the larger and more difficult to deploy plastic stakes
