Works just as it should and it interfaces perfectly with my router. No problems at all and worked wonderfully.
Cons
Same lead wire slips in and out of ethernet shield headers with very little friction. Sunfounder has zero documentation. The pins are too short as you can see in the photos.

Attached this shield to a new mega with the firmware and it fired up instantly.

From what i understand, this is a limitation of the chip (w5100), so any board from any other manufacturer will have the same limitation.

While i have no problem supporting the open source program by buying an original at a higher cost i do have a serious issue paying that price for one not produced by them

Id rather buy a copy from a reputable company selling it as a copy at a copy price and then donate the difference to arduino than to buy a copy at the original price and none of that going back to the betterment of the arduino project
