Pros

After wiring to an arduino uno, mega. Simply connect to an available pwm pin on your microcontroller. Minimum wiring required.

I didn't have some issues controlling the backlighting. It is fully adjustable from the pot dimmer on the back. I am actually really impressed by the resiliency of the screens.

No product info in package, but easy to find enough online for a hello world demo, had running with an uno in 30 minutes.

Competitiveness

Same library and commands as the smaller 16x2 that comes with the arduino starter kit.

Also bought the 2004 model and the i2c backpack needed to be re-soldered to the lcd.
