The item is listed as detecting upto 10 or 11 inches in depth maybe thats in dense soilearth but in sand it easily hit that and deeper and we dug several holes elbow deep

The item arrived with two 9v batteries i opted to buy some well known brand ones and use them

I would have no hesitation recommending this to another first time enthusiast it is probably a pretty decent back up for the more experienced detectorist as well

The instructions do state the control box isnt waterproof but it survived light drizzle i opted to put a plastic bag over the control box when the rain got heavier
